Back to the Land: Investing in Farms as a High-Yield Inflation Hedge

With equities on uncertain footing, can America’s farmland offer an unorthodox yet high-yield alternative to bonds and gold as an inflation hedge? AcreTrader founder and CEO Carter Malloy thinks that it can. In a fascinating interview with Maggie Lake, Arkansas-based Malloy lays out the argument for diversifying your portfolio by investing in agricultural land, which AcreTrader claims has a 11% average annual return. AcreTrader, he explains, is an online portal for investors that combines a data analytics-fueled approach to identifying suitable properties with word-of-mouth and community-based interface with farmers. Malloy also says that AcreTrader provides investment and support for sustainable agriculture practices. Recorded on January 13, 2022.
